Toxic chemicals are building up in people!

Foods we need to stay healthy—like mother’s breast milk, fish, and vegetables—are contaminated by dangerous chemicals because of the way they are grown and processed and from industrial pollution.

Don’t wait for the EPA to figure out how much is safe enough. Reverse Osmosis Removes Forever Chemicals click for the systems I have in my home.

Solution? Filter water at point of use!

Widespread pesticide use means these toxic chemicals pollute the rivers and groundwater we rely on for drinking water, and food crops routinely test positive for pesticides. Industrial chemicals make their way into our food and water when factories discharge them to air and water. It is also a problem when incineration creates toxic chemicals like dioxin, when persistent chemicals leach out of landfills, and when food processing companies choose toxic chemicals for packaging or production.

Once drinking water is contaminated, cleanups are difficult and costly. That’s why Toxic-Free Future holds polluters accountable and advocates for rules that prevent this contamination in the first place.

⚠️ Our new peer-reviewed study finds that unregulated toxic chemicals are building up in people!

📉 Our testing of breast milk found unregulated hazardous flame retardants for the first time, while levels of banned substances called PBDEs declined by 70% in the region since they were last measured 20 years ago.

📺 Flame retardants, which are often found in TVs and other electronics, are linked to negative health impacts like learning problems, hormone disruption, and reduced fertility.

🤱 Our results show that when we ban dangerous chemicals in products like PBDEs, we make products safer for moms and babies.

🍼 But chemicals that are used as alternatives to PBDEs are also problematic. And our research found these newer chemicals in U.S. breast milk for the first time.

It’s not enough to ban hazardous chemicals—we need policies that ban the entire class of harmful organohalogen flame retardants (OFRs) in electronics and we must move to safer solutions!
